Edward Weston

Edward Weston

Edward Weston
looking at Edward Weston works, is interesting to see how he use vegetables in studio with a analogue camera, the biggest thing that makes me look to his work is the sharpeners of his photos, you can clearly see the smallest details of the vegetables in Black and White. Looking back to what he do with the vegetables is amazing, he cut the object in the way that shows every detail and in a strange  way, to achieve this incredible effect, he used one lighting point directly to the object and close-ups, probably he used a table to place his vegetables with a black curtains over the table for a background . Most of his work is symmetrical, with a black background the object show more clearly.

Looking to Weston I try to re-create his work with my own vegetables, using some techniques and equipment that he used,

Felype Campos (Me)
I used a DSLR Camera (60D Canon) and a macro lens to photograph, a tripod to keep the camera in place, a table and a black curtains over it to create the black background and to put the vegetable over it, I cut the broccoli in half and put a square object behind the vegetables to keep the broccoli steady.

So I took the photo to the Photoshop to increase the sharpeners and adjust the levels and contrast, the problems that I face with was how to set the light in the right place to kill the broccoli shadows and to keep it steady in place.
The influence that Edward give me, is his compositions that he put into his works, most of them look symmetrical  that is one of the thing that make me look to his works..
